What's New for the 2019 BMW i8?

Although it is hard to improve an elite sport hybrid such as the i8, BMW managed to find new ground in 2019. The i8 is now available with two special appearance packages called "Worlds." The Tera World package includes a leather engine cover, premium black brake calipers, exclusive upholstery with Dalbergia Brown leather, ceramic control surfaces, BMW blue seat belt strap, and an anthracite headliner. The Tera World Copper package is essentially the same as Tera World, but the interior is accented with exclusive E-Copper-colored leather.

Which Trims Come Standard with Great Features?

The entire i8 line is rich with standard equipment. All models have an 8.8-inch touchscreen display with a premium audio system, hands-free connectivity, and Apple CarPlay compatibility. There are numerous standard technology and safety features, including automatic emergency braking, park assist, lane departure and frontal collision warnings, and more. Automatic climate control, heated seats, sporty leather upholstery and elegant 20-inch wheels round out its significant interior and exterior features.

The Coupe and Roadster trims represent the two available model options. The Coupe is the traditional hard top version, perfect for drivers who prefer a solid roof. The more expensive Roadster includes a retractable cloth roof that offers plenty of sunshine and wind during those perfect weather days.

The BMW i8 Has Three Performance Modes and Abundant Power

2019 BMW i8The i8 power will ensure that your vehicle moves as sporty as it looks. Each model is more powerful in 2019, boasting a 12 hp boost that reaches a total of 369 hp. The i8 advanced hybrid motor races to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds and consists of a 141 hp electric motor and a 1.5-liter turbo-3 internal combustion engine that produces 228 hp.

The i8 has three special driving modes that adjust your motors' power combination based on your driving demands: Max e-Mode, Comfort, and Sport. When driven in Max-Mode, the vehicle relies solely on electric power that provides front-wheel drive through 135 mph. However, a jab on the accelerator will activate the combustion motor if more response is required. Comfort mode (default mode) turns on once electric power is depleted and both engines operate together as a normal hybrid. Sport mode uses the best power combination of both motors to achieve optimum performance.

What are the Safety Features on the 2019 i8

2019 BMW i8The carbon fiber structure of the i8 sits atop an aluminum chassis, offering optimum structural strength. The battery is placed in the center of the vehicle, keep it as far from harm's way as possible. Each model also includes six airbags and an extensive technical safety package that includes automatic emergency braking, collision warnings, and rear parking sensors among a host of other features. If you really want to make a safety statement on the road, you can purchase a separate laser light upgrade.

Our friendly staff at BMW of Lincoln would be happy to answer any questions about the i8 and to let you take a test drive.
