What Is New About the BMW 7 Series?
The new 7 Series introduces a stronger, more monolithic exterior presence. Slim lighting elements, an available illuminated BMW kidney grille and available BMW Crystal Headlights give the front end a distinctive identity, particularly after dark.
Its long, sculpted profile reflects the sedan’s flagship status without becoming overly complicated. Available BMW Individual finishes, including dramatic two-tone treatments, will give buyers additional opportunities to create a 7 Series that feels personally commissioned rather than pulled from an assembly line.
Inside, BMW’s new Panoramic iDrive concept brings displays and vehicle information closer to the driver’s natural line of sight. BMW Panoramic Vision stretches information across the lower windshield area and works alongside the Central Display and available BMW 3D Head-Up Display.
The result is a cabin that looks futuristic without requiring the driver to hunt through a maze of disconnected screens.
Will the New BMW 7 Series Be Gasoline or Hybrid?
BMW plans to offer the new 7 Series with both gasoline and plug-in-hybrid powertrains.
The BMW 740 and all-wheel-drive 740 xDrive use a 3.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo inline-six engine supported by 48-volt mild-hybrid technology. BMW currently lists output at 394 horsepower and estimates that the 740 xDrive can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds.
The forthcoming BMW 750e xDrive will combine an inline-six gasoline engine with plug-in-hybrid capability. BMW estimates that it will provide up to 35 miles of electric driving under ideal conditions before continuing with gasoline assistance. U.S. availability is currently expected to begin in November 2026. Final EPA figures may vary.
