BMW XM Label Sets Pikes Peak Record

The XM Label Red is an all-new addition to the BMW lineup, and this hybrid-electric crossover stands out as the automaker's most powerful production model. It boasts an astounding output of 738 horsepower as well as 738 pound-feet of torque. On June 27, 2023, the XM Label Red embarked on the annual Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. While this model has been flawlessly engineered to handle the mountain's 156 turns, it did not complete the competition. Instead, a mishap on the road resulted in the vehicle veering off course and slamming into a tree. However, on the second attempt, the XM Label Red did more than complete the course. It did so in record time.

The second attempt at this course, which features an elevation change of 5,000 feet, was in September 2023. It achieved the best time for hybrid-electric SUVs at 10:48:60. The BMW XM Label Red's ascent was a certified run. However, because it was not done on race day, it will not count as a race-day achievement.

Across BMW's expanding line of electrified vehicles, it continues to instill the same high standards for engineering excellence as it has throughout its history. To inquire about test driving the XM and to learn about other electrified models in the current lineup, contact BMW of Lincoln today.
