Recently, BMW has shown off its backset theater screen in the form of a 31-inch entertainment system that allows rear passengers to stay entertained for hour after hour. The feature is in the second row of seats and has a resolution that goes up to 8k.
High-Resolution New Tech
This entertainment option is supported by an Amazon Fire TV device that's at 4K. The screen can display many different formats, including a Cinemascope 32 X 9 panoramic display. The video is known for being quite crisp, with a resolution display at 8000 x 2000 pixels for each column.
Essentially, if you use this My Mode Theater option, it makes the rear seats inside the BMW become like your own personal home theater. It even has surround sound for a fully immersive viewing experience, all while riding around on your way to your destination. You may even forget where you are in that situation.
You even have 5g connectivity built into this setup as well, so you will be able to listen to or watch whatever you want to while you're a passenger.
This technology was showcased recently this year at the CES event. The Fire TV that runs the show is running Fire OS. It can access almost any modern video streaming services that you may want to use, including other apps from Fire TV. You can do all of this over its fast connection. It features a touch display and touchpad controls built right into the rear doors at the back of the car.
Surround Sound
The new system also features more than 30 speakers from Bowers and Wilkins for the surround sound experience. The BMW company calls this sound system “4D” since you can not only hear sound coming from all directions, but you can also even feel it inside the seats themselves. This means that the more intense moments of sound will vibrate their way into your head.
