In the first ever J.D. Power 2016 U.S. Tech Experience Index Study, two BMW models scored highest in their respective segments for having the most user-friendly technology. BMW outperformed all other luxury brands, which serves as a testament to the automaker’s dedication to providing the best experience for drivers.
Coming first in two out of three premium categories, BMW blew the competition out of the water. The 2016 BMW 4 Series and the BMW 2 Series topped the compact premium and small premium segments, respectively. Also worth noting, the BMW X1 came in third in the small premium segment.
This study surveyed drivers who were at the 90 days of ownership/leasing benchmark, asking them to rate their car’s different technology features. From the safety systems to the infotainment systems, each component’s functionality was looked at individually. In addition to finding which vehicles had the best or worse technology ratings, the study also discovered that safety technology was highly rated across the board.
When it comes to safety technologies, BMW models are extremely well-equipped. A rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, collision mitigation system and lane departure warning are some of the available safety features on the BMW 2 Series and X1. The 4 Series adds a blind-spot monitor, drowsiness monitor, and top- and side-view cameras.
