What's New for the 2026 BMW 5 Series?
Although the 2026 BMW 5 Series carries over wholly unchanged from the previous model year, there is still much to enjoy about this upscale luxury sedan. The 5 Series is a sharp-looking midsize luxury sedan that stands out for its power, fuel efficiency, and tech-savvy cabin. What Are the 2026 5 Series Trims & Features?
The base model of the BMW 5 Series family is the 530i. With this trim comes a list of features that includes synthetic leather seats, power-adjustable and heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, wireless Android Auto® and Apple CarPlay®, navigation, a Harman Kardon sound system, a wireless phone charging pad, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel paired with a 14.9-inch touchscreen. On the exterior, the 530i features LED headlights and 19-inch wheels.
The second trim in the lineup is the 530i xDrive. This trim has the same features as the 530i, but it comes with standard all-wheel drive rather than rear-wheel drive.
Third in the lineup is the 540i xDrive. This trim level has some additional standard safety features. It is also powered by a stronger engine that increases power output and torque.
Topping the line is the 550e xDrive, which uses a hybrid powertrain and has a few more standard features. A panoramic sunroof is standard on the top 5 Series trim, along with standard remote engine start. The 550e xDrive is equipped with an M Sport professional package that adds a rear spoiler, upgraded brakes, an illuminated grille, and black trim to the exterior.
In addition to their standard features, all trim levels are eligible for upgrades and enhancements through a variety of packages.
How Much Horsepower Does the 2026 5 Series Have?
Powering the 530i and the 530i xDrive is a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This engine produces 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque in both trims. The 530i has rear-wheel drive, while the 530i xDrive has all-wheel drive.
The 540i xDrive also has standard all-wheel drive. Its engine is upgraded to a turbo 3.0L that produces 375 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque.
The top trim uses a hybrid powertrain system that generates 483 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.
What Safety Features Does the 2026 5 Series Include?
The 5 Series is equipped with lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, blind-spot intervention, and forward collision warning.
