What's New for the 2020 BMW 7 Series

The 7 Series is the flagship sedan for BMW, an absolute tour de force of luxury, technology, and performance. Having long been considered one of the premier luxury cars in the world, the 2020 7 Series arrives with unique changes and additions to a car that has always been synonymous with elegance and convenience. For 2020, the 7 Series receives a much larger front grille along with sleeker headlights with optional laser headlights. The V8 models have been updated, and a new hands-free driving system is now also available. A new 12.3-inch instrument cluster and 10.5-inch infotainment screen now adorn the inside of the vehicle. New wheel designs and different taillights are some of the exterior changes BMW has offered up for the 2020 model.

2020 BMW 7 Series Has Abundant Features

The 7 Series comes in two main variants that include the base 740i, the 740i xDrive, and the 750i xDrive. The 740i is now the only rear-wheel-drive 7 Series, while the xDrive models are all-wheel-drive. Both trim levels offer dozens of innovative features including a Harmon Kardon audio system with a powerful 600-watt amplifier with 17 speakers, Life Cockpit Professional which features a multi-input iDrive system that is operated by voice, touchscreen or controller, soft-closing automatic door operation, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and automatic four-zone climate control. Additional features include a Wi-Fi hotspot, power outlets throughout, a parking assist system with a 3-D view and distance control, a panoramic moonroof with a fully automatic, two-piece glass panel, and wireless smartphone charging capability.

How Well does the 2020 7 Series Perform?

2020 BMW 7 SeriesThe BMW 740i and 740i xDrive models will come with 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engines. This engine utilizes a twin-scroll turbocharger and direct injection technology creating a hefty output of 335 horsepower with 330 lb-ft of torque available as low as 1,500 rpm. The 740i model can reach zero to 60 mph in only 5.3 seconds, while the addition of the xDrive's all-wheel-drive system delivers the necessary traction to accelerate to 60 mph in only 4.8 seconds. The 750i xDrive now comes with a completely overhauled 4.4-liter eight-cylinder engine generating a maximum output of 523 horsepower and an unbelievable 553 lb-ft of torque. This new power plant rockets the 750i xDrive from zero to 60 mph in an astonishing 3.9 seconds.

The BMW 7 Series has a Long List of Safety Features

The BMW advanced driver assist-system come to the driver's aid in all sorts of different situations and specifically enhance various aspects of safety (and comfort) in the process. Camera images and the data gathered by radar and ultrasonic sensors are used to monitor the vehicle's surroundings and either alert the driver or even intervene with corrective braking and steering. An optional night vision system includes pedestrian and animal detection by relaying a real-time video image showing people, animals or other heat-emitting objects. Adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert and an incredible 3-D camera system ensure that the driver is always aware of other vehicles. Also available is the amazing Back-Up Assistant system, which helps the driver exit parking spots with automated reversing.
