How Often Should I Service My BMW X3?
To stay in top shape and avoid wear and tear on its components, your BMW X3 will need to have regular service. BMW, along with other car manufacturers, recommends service for its vehicles based on mileage. While many automakers follow a similar service schedule, most have slightly different recommendations regarding what parts need to be checked and when. Following the precise service schedule outlined in the owner's manual for your X3 is the best way to ensure your car receives the maintenance that it needs.
15,000 Mile Service
At 15,000 miles, your BMW will be due for its first comprehensive inspection. Aside from this full service, your BMW will also have had several oil changes and tire rotations by this point. Since the tires and oil are both checked approximately every 5,000 miles, both services will also be included in your car's 15,000-mile inspection. Along with an oil change and tire rotation, your car will have the brakes inspected to look for accelerated or uneven wear. The engine coolant fluid will be changed at 15,000 miles if necessary. Along with the car's fluids, a mechanic will also evaluate the car's exterior components to see if they need replacement, including the wiper blades. The battery in the car's key fob will be checked and replaced if it's running low on power.
30,000 Mile Service
Your X3 will be due for another round of service at 30,000 miles. The coolant fluid will probably be replaced at this point if it wasn't already at 15,000 miles. Both air filters in your vehicle, located in the engine and the cabin, will be changed by a mechanic if they are dirty or contaminated. The battery connections will also be evaluated, and a technician will check the BMW's fuel lines.
60,000 Mile Service
At 60,000 miles, your car will have more age-related services performed. The transmission fluid is generally replaced at this point. The tires will get an inspection for signs of uneven wear, and the spark plugs may need to be replaced as well.
90,000 Mile Service
The 90,000-mile service includes a flush of the transmission fluid. The transmission fluid will probably also be changed. A BMW mechanic will also inspect the water pump, hoses, and belts and replace all of those components if needed. The fuel injector and driveshaft boots will be reviewed, and the driveshaft may be lubricated.
